Four days in heaven - Day one:

He got out of bed with a heavy heart. He was dreading the day ahead of him because he knew he had a long and onerous day ahead. What with him being dumped by the one girl he thought would never leave his side and his ‘HARI SADU’ boss behind his ass to finish the assignment quixotically faster than possible for a superman let alone him. He went into the bathroom washed his face and looked into the mirror. What he saw there was not the man he had become but the boy he had been. The boy who had so many dreams in his innocent expectant eyes. He wondered where in the journey of life had he lost that small boy who had so much fervour towards life! He still remembered the day his whole life took an unexpected turn to change everything in just a blink…

He was called into the HODs office in the middle of his favourite lecture. The instant he entered the office he knew something was terribly wrong. But how terribly he found out only when his HOD told “I am so very sorry to be telling such a bad news, but I got a call from your dad saying your mother met with an accident which she didn’t survive”! His whole world had revolved around his mother and she was like the key for the clock that he was, it was because of her that he ticked. And without her he knew he would just waft through life. Only to avoid living with his dad (who had abandoned them when they needed him the most for another woman) more then was necessary he joined the company he was placed in right after college.

And just when he was contemplating about changing the direction of his life NEHA happened. A girl he thought was perfect for him only to realize very soon that she was too involved with his money than him. There were times when he thought she was with him only for his salary and it felt like she was in a relationship with his salary and not him. He always knew that she never saw him for what he was. Ones more he soldiered on with his life and with neha.”

But now he realized he had a choice! With that thought and a peace of mind he had never had before, he left for office. As usual when he reached the hell hole to be welcomed by the pandemonium that was his boss’s making. But today would be different..... with that thought he went into his boss’s cabin did the one thing he had dreamt of doing each and every day from the day he started working but was always too scared to do (pour the cup of coffee in his hand on his boss’s head, and exist the cabin with a wicked grin on his face and a boss who was gaping at him too stunned to say anything).

With no substantial savings, no job and no girlfriend he was free to do what he always wanted to do. All the things that had meant so much yesterday had no meaning at all now. He breathed deeply as he felt alive for the first time in years. Remembering something he had read a long time back “live every day like it’s your last”. He went to the nearest newspaper stand and bought the current edition. Flipping through the pages he found what he was looking for. He saw that the interview was scheduled for the afternoon so wasting no time he left for the interview.

After an hour he came out of the interview hall with a smile on his face. It had been ages since his smile had reached his eyes but today it did.
He had finally done it!!
He would be a teacher very soon (2months to be precise). All his life he had wanted to be a teacher, have his own school and be a proud part of a student’s future. He wanted to make a good impact on a kid’s life, even if it was in a very small way. Only his mother had understood his passion for teaching and it felt like it had died along with her. He had tried to explain this passion for teaching to neha but she had never understood it and had always laughed at the idea. His father on the other hand wasn’t even interested in listening to his plans. So he had given up on the dream…. Until today.
